Quinn Talbot is an all-around sportsman, who has excelled in such sports as cricket, soccer and golf.
In spite of having his right arm amputated in 1969, Quinn has excelled in his career as a Golf Professional. Quinn is a staunch believer that there is no such thing as “I can’t”. In fact, he believes that the only time people are handicapped is when they limit themselves. His guiding principle is, “If you put your mind to something and don’t give up, you can achieve.”
It was this determination that enabled him to win his division of the National Amputee Golf Championship in the United States five years in succession. He was the winner of the British World One-Arm Golf Championship in 1998 in Essex, England and again in 1991 in Sligo, Ireland. Quinn is also certified to teach golf to physically challenged individuals, including those who are blind.
In 1996, Quinn began his employment at the Ocean View Golf Course as a Pro/Teacher. Over the past 16 years there, he has taught adults, visitors to Bermuda and numerous youngsters enrolled in golf clinics, sponsored by the Bermuda Junior Golf Association.
Whether cooking, playing the trumpet, repairing golf clubs, building customized clubs, teaching golf or playing golf, Quinn is a testament to the fact that one’s success is determined by one’s own attitude.
In 2002, Quinn was awarded the Queen’s Certificate and Badge of Honour for his international success in golf and for his service to sports in Bermuda as an all-round sportsman.
